Tomorrow When The War Began
Tomorrow When the War Began is the begging of an amazing and shocking journey that a group of teenage students have to endure. After they return from a short camping trip in the bushes up the river they realise they have came back to hell. Realising that there old lives are gone they have to hide out. The plot of the story is an invading country takes over Australia. Starting with Cobblers Bay they roll in their tanks and march in there soldiers all over the country side. Ellie and her band of friends decide they aren't just going to sit there and hide under a rock until this all blows over, they decide to be active and become guerrillas. I really like this book for a lot of reasons, for starters is Australian so I understand the strange language they use and also I like the idea of kids not taking adults to think of them as babies. That is the reason I like books about child spies and kids who take charge. I strongly recommend this book to strong readers like you (ms. Patrice) because it has a really good plot line and has seat edging suspense.

Judging wether a website is reliable
1. Checkpoint has help me know where to find the author name, and base on that author name i can find is that author reliable #inforeliability
2. This checkpoint help us to know where we usually find the author's name, how to know if the author is reliable.#inforeliability
3.#inforeliability If the website doesn't answer your questions, it is not useful to you. The more answers you can find, the better the site.
4.#inforeliability you have to see there is information that you want. If there is not, you have to find information by using searching skill.
5.#inforeliability Read through the information and then decide whether it has really told you what it said it would.
6.#inforeliability how can you tell? You can tell btwn fact or an opinion by checking if it's repeated on another (reliable) website.
7.#inforeliability .a good website will tell you who it's for and what it's trying to tell you .

Checkpoint
It is extremely easy to just go to a website and believe all the information evan if inside you know it is not true. You can always check the information on the internet. For starters
1. you can check who the writer is and if they are really who they say they are.
2. Check if it is original information or if they have just copied it off another website.\
3. If there is a fair amount of information and if there is all the information.
Always remember:
Unlike TV programmes and magazines, the internet does NOT have a group of people to check that the information being provided is correct.

Internet Serching Guide
This is a guide on how to use a search engine on the internet (Google, Yahoo, and Bing). There are many ways to limit the amount of results and get the best ones. With a few tips you can get a lot better results
1-
DO NOT use common words like “in,
or, and, what, how”. Most search engines will ignore them but it is better not
to use them.
2- Put “ ” around common words that you do not want the
search engine to ignore like the famous Shakespeare quote “to be or not to be”.
They are all common words but you want them to be used in the search.
3-
If you want a search engine to specify on certain
things with an added point than you add a “+” sign. For example, a hotel +
swimming pool. If you want a search engine to look for results without a
specific thing like a bar, hotel +Pool – bar.
4-
The most important rule is here “BE SPECIFIC”. If you
are not specific you will get thousands of useless results. The more specific
the better results.

Microsoft Publisher homework
In ICT on Tuesday we learnt how to use publisher. For our homework we were assigned to make a flyer/poster, brochure, calendar, post card or business letter using publisher. For my two activities I decided to do a calendar advertising Tom Clancy (a video game) and also I made a flyer explaining the uses of a Life book. Here is the Calendar advertising Tom Clancy:
For the second activity I decided to do a flyer. My flyer is advertising the soon to come life book that consists of a digital camera, tablet, smartphone and laptop. It is quite amazing. Here it is:

Logo homework
What makes a good logo?
What i think makes a good logo is a creative logo that means not just one thing but many. It also should represent the business or organisation. Like this logo (right). This logo is advertising a food photo blog. It had the speech bubble as the plate and the dinning set as the camera. It fits together really well and is super creative.
A bad example of a logo is Cazzs Sports Bar n' Grille. The design of it is not pointed in the right direction for the expected audience. The colors are to bright and it looks like a kids shop logo. It also is too bright and hurts my eyes.As a bar i would think of the logo to be more creative and serious with darker colors and less colorful.

Five rules for making a cool looking logo are:
1.Creativity- you have to be creative if you want people to like your logo.
2.Appropriate- the logo has to be appropriate and be suitable for the audience.
3.Interesting- make it so that people enjoy seeing it.
4.Understandable- you can be creative but you have to be able to show what the logo is representing.
5.Audience- think of what audience you are appealing to and work with that.
6.Memorable- make it memorable so that people will remember it and it will stick in there head.
7.Simple- you can make it tricky to decipher but remember to keep it simple and easy.
8.Versatile- make it have more then one interpretation and explain many things.
Photo editing- Paint.net
For fun I manipulated a photo I took in Laos. It was a picture of a young monk who was walking the streets at 5:00 A.M. looking for food. I did the same thing with the Statue of Liberty below. It looked really nice. Here it is:
I also took a HDR image of Google and did the same thing with it. It took me at least an hour to get it perfect but it was really fun.

Paint.net
In ICT the other day we learnt about Paint.net and how to use it. I really like Paint.net because it is simple and easy to use. I use it to create almost every poster i make and more. The thing i really like about the lesson was we learnt how to make one object colorful and the rest black and white. For example, we had a picture of The Statue of Liberty and Manhattan in the background we turned into this by making a duplicate layer of the image and making it black and white. After that I put the black and white layer on top and used the eraser to revel the colored layer below. This is how it turned out:
Another thing we did in Ict was learn how to take specific pictures out of the whole image. Like a person out of a photo. We took a bitmap image of a Porsche Boxster and cropped it out of the picture. We then put it on another image with just a blue (or any color you want) and it made the parts you miss stand out. We also cut it into three parts and squished the whole car together so we got more of a Porsche Cayenne look. It looked like a big toy car. Here is the final product:
I really enjoyed learning about Paint.net and hope we get to do more with it.

Thorium video
I added a video to my presentation so that there is every type of Multi Media except animation. The video was orriginally four minutes but i changed the length of it and cut out alot of unnecesssry infoemation. It took me along time to get it perfect. I also added a title "Thorium greener than Uranium. For some reason the video would not finish so i had to use my sisters computer (who had a different version of Movie Maker) and then save it as a youtube video and then embed it on my blog. After a while it finally worked. I didn't know how to make it play on the blog so i have a link to it below.

Photo Editing Bitmap Images
The bunny originally had the red eye effect but after going into Effects- Photos- Red Eye Removal- the bunny looked normal again.
I got red of all the unneccessary details out side the red box. I also rezized for more focus on the frog.
I darkened the image of the lader because it was too light and really hard to see. It looks alot bettwer when its darker and alot more realistic.

I made the image too light by accident and i didn't know how to change it back soo it's a bit lighter than normal.

With this image I darkened the brightness so that it wasnt too light. I did the same thing as i did with the ladder and it looks alot better now when its darker.

Introduction to ICT
Hey, my name is Josh Sheil and I am from Australia. I came to Vietnam two years ago and plan to stay another year or so. I really like computers and electronical things so i am really looking forward to this class. Last year ICT was quite fun so i am hoping that this year will bring the same.
If i had to tell a brand new student one thing in ICT, i would tell them the baic rules like listen to the teacher when they are talking (and turnscreen off), no playing games or messing around with settings or software and to always have fun and learn as much as you can.
After experiencing last years ICT class, i noticed i had a weak point in the Audacity area. This didn't surprise me at all because i had alot of troubles why learning how to use it. I really like the concept of it and think it would become very useful further along in in life, so one of my main goals is to learn how to use audacity properly and also enjoy this class!!
